Podcasting

My feelings on podcasts? Hmm. Well, I'm not sure whether I can say this without bias seeing as my podcasts are certainly not up to par with those of my peers. In my defense, I have no microphone, so I was speaking into headphones plugged into the line-in jack on my laptop. As a result my podcasts were, well, of a particularly shitty quality.

If I were to take this class again I think I would've considered submitting video podcasts instead of audio podcasts. The advantages of video podcasts are endless.
1)I have a web capable camcorder
2)The audience has a better picture of what is going on
3)I can demonstrate the topics of my podcast through moving images
4)It's more interesting (seriously, would you rather watch the news, or listen to it?)
The list goes on.....

Interactive Classroom

I'm sorry to say that I was not a big fan of the "interactive classroom" activity. For me this activity just seemed like another step up the latter of verbal communication extinction. I was appalled by how many people were "talking" via the cyberchat when in the physical world conversations are rare in our class.

While I do feel the internet has it's place in the classroom, I don't feel like that place is communication. Unless of course we're talking communication to a place thousands of miles away. This commercial bellow should illustrate my point a little further.

Today I'd like to talk about internet videos that promote causes. As our book says, although causes may not really gain that much financial support through the internet, they certainly promote knowledge and awareness. Take for example this clip from the documentary Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars, a story about a band by the same name going back to their home country of Sierra Leone after years of war prompted exile.

Changing my topic

Well, I have a problem. No, it's not drinking, although that is debatable. My problem is that I tend to not be able to remember alot of the stuff that goes on after I've had a few, and walking around from bar to bar with a notebook is a tad bit much. I can't even keep track of my phone calls, let alone being writing descriptions of the bar scene down in a drunken haze.

So I decided to change the topic of this blog to video on the web. I figure that's a cool thing, and it's also something I enjoy looking at after a long night of unproductive drinking.
